Key Requirement

The client required operating system support for their Linux, Unix, and Solaris servers.

Challenges

1) Complexity in Server Installation and Configuration

The client required support for their diverse server environment, including Linux, Unix, and Solaris systems. Ensuring the smooth installation, configuration, and upgrading of these operating systems across multiple servers presented a significant challenge due to the various platforms and technologies involved.

2) Virtualization Management Across Multiple Platforms

The client utilized VMware vSphere Hypervisor 5.1 for Linux and Oracle VM Server for Sparc (LDOMs), creating a complex virtualized environment that needed careful management. Creating and configuring RAID and storage groups was crucial to ensuring data redundancy and high availability. 4) Maintaining Application Servers and Web Servers

The client utilized a range of applications and web servers, including Apache, WebLogic, and Apache Tomcat. Ensuring their installation, configuration, and maintenance, along with troubleshooting any issues, was challenging due to the need to keep the systems fully operational while minimizing downtime.

Solutions

1) Efficient OS Installation and Upgradation

Veritis provided technical expertise in installing, configuring, and upgrading Redhat, Solaris, and Unix servers. By following best practices for OS installation and regularly updating the systems, Veritis ensured that the client’s infrastructure remained secure, up-to-date, and in line with the latest industry standards.

2) Virtualization Support for VMware and Oracle VM Server

The Veritis team set up a Linux Virtual Machine on the VMware vSphere Hypervisor 5.1 and used Oracle VM Server to manage Sparc (LDOMs) environments. This virtualization support enhanced the client’s resource management, allowing for better utilization of server resources while ensuring high availability and performance across the board.

3) Reliable Storage Setup with RAID and Storage Groups

Veritis configured RAID and storage groups to meet the client’s requirements, ensuring secure and redundant data storage. By registering hosts and properly managing storage allocation, Veritis provided a robust storage solution that ensured data protection and improved system resilience in case of hardware failures.

4) Comprehensive Application and Web Server Management

Veritis managed the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of crucial web and application servers such as Apache, WebLogic, and Apache Tomcat. Additionally, the team provided ongoing support for PHP, OpenSSL, WordPress, and Magento, ensuring that the client’s business processes ran smoothly without interruption.

Veritis Approach

The Veritis team of experts worked on the installation, configuration and upgradation of Redhat/Solaris Servers in addition to providing the technical support. A Linux Virtual Machine was created on a VMware vSphere Hypervisor 5.1 (ESXi 5.1) Host Server. Oracle VM Server was used for Sparc (LDOMs).

Creation of RAID groups and storage groups along with registering of the hosts was done as per the client requirements. Web servers like Apache and WebLogic Application servers were configured and implemented. Installation, configuration and troubleshooting of the Apache Tomcat server and Apache reverse proxy server was done.

The Adeptia suite was installed for managing, automating and optimizing the business processes. PHP, OpenSSL, WordPress and Magneto were installed as required by the application team.
